TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Thailand offers more than just beautiful beaches, stunning temples, and lively markets. Within Bangkok's bustling cityscape, a darker side of its history exists in some terrifying locations.

From a death museum to an abandoned skyscraper and a spooky cemetery, these haunted places in Bangkok feel like they were made for a horror movie.

1. Siriraj Medical Museum (Museum of Death)

Dubbed the Museum of Death, the Siriraj Medical Museum is famous for its morbid collection. It displays preserved organs, skeletons, mummified murder victims, and other medical oddities, as reported by Travel and Leisure. The chilling exhibits have earned the museum its horrifying reputation, drawing visitors who dare to confront its eerie atmosphere.

2. Teochew Cemetery (Wat Don Cemetery)

Hidden behind banyan trees in downtown Sathorn, this Chinese cemetery holds thousands of tombs, many of which belong to victims of accidents and unidentified individuals. Established in 1899, the cemetery's cracked gravestones, tangled creeping plants, and rusted gates create an eerie silence that evokes the atmosphere of a horror movie set.

3. Old Customs House

The 19th-century Customs House on the banks of the Chao Phraya River has all the characteristics of a creepy old building: peeling paint, warped wooden floors, and echoing corridors. Once a bustling center for goods and traders, it is now a decaying shell occupied by rats and overgrown plants. Locals recount stories of footsteps pacing on the upper floors at night and groans that are not related to shifting furniture.

4. Southern Bangkok Bus Terminal (Sai Tai Mai)

While the Sai Tai Mai bus terminal is a functional, chaotic hub during the day with bustling ticket booths, stopping buses, and vendors selling fruit and fried snacks, it transforms at night. As neon lights flicker and loudspeakers crackle, the wide, melancholic corridors become a place between worlds. Travelers who doze off here sometimes wake up disoriented and disturbed, claiming to have seen faceless figures.

5. Sathorn Unique Tower

The Sathorn Unique Tower has become an urban legend in Bangkok. The abandoned and eerie building, known as the "Ghost Tower," has a dark history involving multiple unexplained deaths.

6. The Pen Factory at Kasem Bundit University

This abandoned pen factory is located near Kasem Bundit University. Its horrific history includes workers who died prematurely after a massive explosion destroyed the factory's structure. As reported by Thaiger, locals say the spirits of the injured and tormented workers still roam the area to this day, and many feel unsettled when visiting the site. The factory owner was also shot and killed in his office when his business went bankrupt.
