TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Head of the Department of Inclusive and Green Financial Economics at Bank Indonesia (BI), Anastuty Kusumowardhani, stated that they will continue to strengthen inclusive financial policies to encourage micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to grow. She emphasized the importance of expanding access to financing while also increasing competitiveness. "This policy is aimed at creating demand for financing institutions to provide credit to MSMEs that indeed need it," she said during the launch of the Amartha Financial Group at Heritage Setiabudi, Jakarta, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
Astuty revealed that MSMEs' contribution to the national economic growth reached 60-64 percent, with employment absorption of about 97 percent. Of this number, 80 percent are women.
She said BI is promoting the competitiveness of MSMEs by offering the MSME Go Export, MSME Green, and MSME Go Digital programs, which include the introduction of e-commerce and digital payment platforms. BI has also launched the Financial Information Application Recording System (SIAPIK) application to assist MSMEs in managing simple financial records. Currently, there are 57 million QRIS users, including 39.3 million MSMEs.
However, Astuty pointed out the significant decrease in credit disbursement from commercial banks, causing many businesses to hold back expansion. "Many factors are causing this decline. From the demand side, we know the economy is sluggish, and then the people's purchasing power, everything is currently weak," she said.
To bridge MSMEs with financing institutions, BI is implementing the Potential Financing Profile Survey Database for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (BISAID) program. This program promotes business partnerships for financing totaling Rp320 billion and includes 314 MSMEs supported by 10 financial institutions. "We have a program that may not be possessed by other ministries/agencies, which is providing financial access to these MSMEs," she said.
Astuty also emphasized the importance of synergy among stakeholders through the National Council for Inclusive Finance (DNKI). "We can say that the piloting project for 2,500 MSMEs can be used as an example for the development of MSMEs or other subsistence activities throughout Indonesia. Therefore, we are very open to collaboration and synergy," she said.
