TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Members of the public who wish to attend Indonesia's 81st Independence Day ceremony at the Merdeka Palace can register online through the official Pandang Istana portal from August 5 to 7, 2026.
The registration is available at https://pandang.istanapresiden.go.id and will open daily at 10 a.m. Jakarta time (WIB). The government has prepared 8,100 invitations for members of the public who want to participate in the ceremony.
Registration Requirements
The Government Communication Agency (Bakom RI) advised prospective attendees to prepare all required documents before registering, as the number of available slots is limited each day.
Applicants must prepare:
A valid Indonesian identity card (KTP) or Child Identity Card (KIA)
An active email address
An active phone number
A recent formal selfie while holding their KTP or KIA
Applicants are required to ensure that their personal information is accurate to help complete the verification process.
First-Day Quota Filled Within an Hour
The first-day registration quota was fully booked about an hour after registration opened on Wednesday, August 5.
The registration page displayed a notice stating that the process had been closed because all available slots for the day had been filled. The page showed a "Full" status, making the registration form inaccessible.
Deputy Minister of State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro confirmed that additional registration slots would reopen the following day.
"Tomorrow there will be more," Juri told Indonesian state news agency ANTARA in a text message.
High Demand Causes Access Delays
Shortly after registration opened at 10 a.m., the portal experienced heavy traffic, with users receiving notifications that they had to wait more than four hours due to a high number of simultaneous visitors.
The Independence Day ceremony will be held on August 17, 2026, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta as part of Indonesia's annual commemoration of its declaration of independence in 1945.
