Indonesian National Team Holds Second Selection Stage for U-17 Asian Cup Squad

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PSSI (Football Association of Indonesia) is holding the second selection wave for the Indonesia U-17 national team players. A total of 33 young players are participating in the selection, which will take place from June 26th to 28th, 2025.

All the players called up were born in 2009. The selection, led by Nova Arianto, is part of the long-term projection towards the 2026 U-17 Asian Cup. This selection program is divided into three waves. The first wave was held on June 24-26, 2025, the second wave on June 26-28, 2025, and the third wave is scheduled for June 28-30, 2025.

The players come from various football academies and soccer schools (SSB) across Indonesia. Unlike the first wave, the second wave is dominated by potential young players from regional academies.

Nova is currently running a regeneration program by visiting various regions' tournaments. This month, he was at Mandala Jayapura Stadium to observe the Freeport Grassroots tournament. He hopes that regular tournament events will be able to produce a new generation of Indonesian national team players. "Certainly, these young players need a platform to compete," he wrote on his Instagram account.
