TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police has named seven suspects in the case of provocation on social media during the demonstrations on 25-28 August 2025 in Jakarta. The Director of Cyber Crime at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Himawan Bayu Aji, stated that Bareskrim and the Cyber Crime Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police have taken law enforcement action against a number of accounts involved in provocation.
"We have received 5 police reports which we followed up by arresting 7 suspects," Himawan said at the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
The suspects who incited on social media are WH (31 years old), the owner of the Instagram account @Bekasi_menggugat, with 831 followers, KA (24) the owner of the Instagram account @aliansimahasiswapenggugat, with 202,000 followers. Both suspects, WH and KA, are being handled by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police. They are being held at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police branch of the National Police detention center.
The other two suspects are being handled by the Cyber Crime Directorate of Bareskrim Polri, namely LFH (26 years old), the owner of the Instagram account @larasfaizati and CS (30 years old), the owner of the TikTok account @cecepmunich. LFH is being held at the Bareskrim Polri detention center, while CS is not held, but is required to report regularly.
The remaining three suspects are IS (39 years old), the owner of the TikTok account @hs02775, with 2,281 followers, SB the owner of the Facebook account Nannu with 1,800 friends and G, the owner of the Facebook account Bambu Runcing. SB and G are a married couple. They are being held at the Bareskrim Polri detention center.
The suspects are said to have provoked, encouraged, and incited the public through social media accounts to commit illegal acts during the demonstrations.
Himawan mentioned that the police have been conducting cyber patrols since August 23 until September 3, 2025. The investigators have seized a number of pieces of evidence from the suspects, including flash disks and 7 gadgets.
The suspects are accused of inciting the masses to destroy the homes of parliament members and police stations. The incitements were distributed through platforms such as the telegram group ACAB#1312. There were also posts shared such as 'Ajakan Jakarta Utara Bergerak, Seruan Aksi Geruduk Polres dan Samsat Jakut' (North Jakarta Calls to Action: Raid the North Jakarta Police District Office and Station) shared on the Instagram account @aliansimahasiswapenggungat.
One of their posts also contained a picture of the Chief of the National Police, Listyo Sigit Prabowo, with the words 'The Murderers'. The account also shared an invitation containing the narrative 'It's time for us to besiege all the police stations'. There is also evidence in the form of a screenshot from the Bambu Runcing's post Facebook group. One of the posts in the group invited action to raid the house of parliament member Ahmad Sahroni.
