TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto participated in the Eid al-Adha prayer at Jakarta’s Istiqlal Mosque on Friday, June 6, 2025. The President arrived at approximately 06:45 AM local time, dressed in a white shirt, fabric trousers, and a black cap.
Entering through the VVIP (very very important person) gate, which had been secured by presidential security personnel since dawn, Prabowo took his place in the front row to perform the Eid prayer.
He was greeted by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno. Also in attendance nearby was Puan Maharani, Chairperson of the People’s Consultative Assembly (DPR).
A number of ministers from the Red and White Cabinet were observed by Tempo, including Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon, Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Rosan Roeslani, and Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono.
Several deputy ministers also joined the prayer, such as Deputy Minister of Culture Giring Ganesha, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Anis Matta, and Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo.
Following the prayer, President Prabowo is scheduled to hand over sacrificial animals to the committee at Istiqlal Mosque. The slaughtering of sacrificial animals donated by the President and other Muslim worshippers will take place the day after Eid al-Adha.
According to Mulawarman Hannase, the acting Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque, this year’s celebration will feature a special addition.
“After the slaughtering of the sacrificial animals on Sunday, June 8, 2025, a feast will be held at Istiqlal for the orphans,” he said.
The sacrificial cow donated by the President will be served during a feast intended for 2,000 orphaned children from the Jakarta-Bogor-Depok-Tangerang-Bekasi area. However, Mulawarman noted that it remains unclear whether President Prabowo will attend the feast with the children.
