1. Global Condemnation Following Death of 5 Journalists in Israeli Attack
The international community has condemned Israel's attack on Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza on Monday. The attack occurred twice-first targeting a number of journalists-and the second attack targeted rescue workers and medical teams attempting to evacuate victims.
The Gaza Ministry of Health confirmed that 20 Palestinians, including patients, health workers, civil defense personnel, and journalists, were killed, while several others were injured in the attack.
Palestinian official TV reported that among the casualties was their cameraman, Hussam al-Masri, who also worked for Reuters. Meanwhile, Qatar's Al Jazeera confirmed that their photographer, Mohammad Salama, also perished.
2. Indef: Indonesia Danantara's Plan to Build Hajj Village Deserves Support
The Advisor of the Center for Sharia Economic Development Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (CSED Indef) Abdul Hakam Naja stated that the plan to develop Indonesian Hajj Village in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, deserves support.
"The development plan for an Indonesian Village for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims in Mecca by the National Investment Management Agency for Nusantara Potential (Danantara) deserves support," he said during a virtual public discussion on Sharia Economics in Financial Notes in Jakarta, Monday, August 25, 2025.
In total, the number of Hajj pilgrims from Indonesia is 221 thousand people in 2025 and 1.8 million people for Umrah in 2024. Currently, the total managed funds of the Hajj Finance Management Agency (BPKH) in 2025 amounts to Rp188 trillion with an annual expenditure for the circulation of Hajj and Umrah funds of Rp70 trillion.
3. Indonesia's PSSI to Report Kuwait to AFC for Canceling Friendly Match
The Chair of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI), Erick Thohir, stated that he will send a strong warning letter to Kuwait after they canceled a friendly match against the Indonesian national team, which was scheduled to take place in Surabaya, East Java in September.
According to Erick, the cancellation was made when all preparations for the match had been completed. "We have sent a strong letter to Kuwait. We will report (Kuwait) to the AFC (Asian Football Confederation)," Erick said, after announcing Alexander Zwiers as the Technical Director of PSSI at Hotel Mulia, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, on Monday night, August 25, 2025.
