TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - United States President Donald Trump announced that a 12-hour ceasefire between Israel and Iran has been agreed upon.
Trump shared this information in a post on Truth Social. According to Trump's statement, cited by CNN and Al Jazeera, the ceasefire is set to begin at 06:00 today.
Here is Trump's full post:
"CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED!"
"Officially, Iran will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 24th Hour, an Official END to THE 12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World. During each CEASEFIRE, the other side will remain PEACEFUL and RESPECTFUL."
"On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, “THE 12 DAY WAR."
"This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will! God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!"
Al Jazeera, referencing a Reuters report, cited U.S. sources indicating that Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani played a significant role in brokering this ceasefire agreement. Trump reportedly called him to inform him of Israel's agreement to the ceasefire and requested Doha's assistance in persuading Tehran to accept a similar deal.
This agreement was reportedly reached after Iran attacked the U.S. Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar on Monday night.
However, there has been no confirmation from Iran or Israel regarding their agreement to the ceasefire announced by the U.S. President on his social media platform.
Simultaneously with Trump's post, various media outlets reported threats of an Israeli attack on Tehran, initially accompanied by evacuation warnings for residents. Iran responded by issuing evacuation warnings for residents of the Ramat Gan district, near Tel Aviv.
The Iran-Israel conflict has been ongoing since June 13, 2025, commencing with an Israeli attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. Iran promptly retaliated, and since then, both countries have engaged in daily missile and air force attacks.
The United States joined the war by bombing three of Iran's nuclear facilities on Sunday, June 22. Iran retaliated a day later by attacking a U.S. military base in Qatar.
