BMKG Weather Forecast: Rain in Some Parts of Indonesia Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts possible rain with varying intensity across several regions in Indonesia today, Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

BMKG forecaster Ranika, in a weather forecast monitored on the BMKG YouTube channel this morning said moderate-intensity rain is likely in Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan.

"Meanwhile, light rain is predicted for Banda Aceh, Aceh; Medan, North Sumatra; Bandar Lampung, Lampung; and Pontianak, West Kalimantan," Ranika said.

In western Indonesia, the weather agency forecast rainfall in Tanjung Selor, followed by light rain in Banda Aceh, Medan, Bandar Lampung, and Pontianak.

Thick clouds are expected to shroud several regions, including Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Jambi, Bengkulu, Jakarta, Serang, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and Samarinda.

In Jakarta, the cloudy weather will persist from morning to afternoon, with partly cloudy skies expected in the evening. Air temperature in the capital ranges between 26 and 35 degrees Celsius, with wind speeds ranging from 3 to 21 kilometers per hour.

BMKG also forecasts hazy air across several regions: Padang, West Sumatra; Palembang, South Sumatra; Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Belitung Islands; and Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. Potential smoke or haze is predicted for Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan.

Furthermore, in eastern Indonesia, light rain is likely in Mamuju, West Sulawesi; Ambon, Maluku; Nabire, Central Papua; and Jayawijaya, Papua Highlands. Meanwhile, sunny, cloudy, and partly cloudy weather is predicted for Denpasar, Bali; Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara; Makassar, South Sulawesi; Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara; and Gorontalo.

Similar weather is also predicted for Manado, North Sulawesi; Ternate, North Maluku; Sorong, Southwest Papua; Manokwari, West Papua; Jayapura, Papua; and Merauke, South Papua. Hazy air is also likely to occur in Palu, Central Sulawesi; and Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi.
