TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) has kicked off construction of the Bogor Raya Waste-to-Energy Power Plant (PSEL) in Galuga Village, Cibungbulang District, Bogor Regency. Danantara Chief Investment Officer Pandu Patria Syahrir stated that the project is valued at Rp2.8 trillion.
“This project will create 1,200 jobs and cut landfill reliance by about 80 percent,” Pandu said during the groundbreaking ceremony in Galuga Village, Bogor, on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
The facility is set to process more than 500,000 tons of waste annually, diverting 45 percent of total waste generated across Bogor City and Bogor Regency. It is also expected to curb emissions by 640,000 metric tons of carbon equivalent from landfills while slashing land requirements for waste disposal sites by 80 percent.
"From an energy perspective, this initiative will generate green power capable of supplying more than 100,000 households in the Greater Bogor area," Pandu said.
Pandu noted that the project involved more than 60 specialists across various disciplines. The international development team includes professionals from Malaysia, Kuwait, Thailand, Australia, Germany, Indonesia, China, and Ireland.
PSEL Bogor Raya 1 is scheduled to begin operations by mid-2028 under the management of the Nusantara Bogor New Energy Development and Management Entity (BUPP). Alongside the primary facility, Danantara is preparing a second plant, PSEL Bogor Raya 2, slated for the Kayumanis area in Bogor City.
Prior to the Bogor launch, Danantara had already initiated construction on waste-to-energy facilities in Denpasar and Bekasi. The initiative is being spearheaded by an international corporate consortium.
