TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An Instagram post [archived] on March 21, 2026, claimed that U.S. President Donald Trump had announced the death of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The video showed Trump delivering a speech with a U.S. flag in the background. He said Netanyahu and his younger brother had been killed in an Iranian attack. “You remain calm and cool about his death,” Trump said in the video.

But is it true that the speech shows Trump announcing Netanyahu’s death?

FACT CHECK

Tempo verified the content through reverse image search, AI detection tools, and reports from credible media outlets. The result showed that the audio in the video was generated using artificial intelligence (AI). In fact, the original video captured Trump attending a bill-signing ceremony on June 12, 2025.

Video Verification

The clip of Trump’s speech is identical to a livestream video on Whitehouse.gov and The White House’s YouTube channel from June 12, 2025, titled “President Trump Participates in a Bill Signing Ceremony.” Several international media outlets such as NBCNews.com and Bloomberg Television also broadcast the speech.

At the time, Trump was speaking at the White House before signing a bill on vehicle emissions standards. Rollcall.com published the full transcript of the speech, including the question-and-answer session. The speech took place long before the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28, 2026.

Tempo also tested the video using the Hive Moderation tool. The result showed that Hive assigned a 99.2 percent probability score that the voice in the video was generated by AI.

Verification results from Undetectable AI also found the same, stating that the voice in the video contained 99 percent AI-generated elements.

Netanyahu Still Active in Public

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed rumors of his death by appearing in public on March 26, 2026. In videos and photos uploaded by Aljazeera.com, TimeofIsrael.com, and Arab News, Netanyahu was seen attending a virtual meeting with leaders of northern Israeli cities.

He said the threat of a Hezbollah invasion into northern Israel had disappeared. Israel is currently building a wider buffer zone in Lebanon to counter the threat of Hezbollah anti-tank missiles.

Earlier, on March 24, 2026, Netanyahu said the military would continue attacking Iran and Lebanon. “At the same time, we continue to launch attacks in Iran and Lebanon. We are destroying their missile program and nuclear program, and we continue to strike Hezbollah hard,” he said.

CONCLUSION

Tempo’s verification concluded that the claim about Trump delivering a speech announcing Netanyahu’s death is false.
