TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Instagram has finally released the official app for iPad after being eagerly awaited by users. The app is now available on the App Store and can be downloaded by all iPad users.
The iPad version of the app brings most of the familiar features, from the feed, stories, to messages. However, Instagram emphasizes that Reels will be the main feature in this new experience.
"With Instagram for iPad, we’ve redesigned the experience to reflect how people use bigger screens today – for lean back entertainment," Instagram wrote in its announcement, quoted from 9to5Mac, September 4, 2025.
Now, when users open the app, they are immediately directed to Reels so they can enjoy entertainment content on a larger screen. "You’ll also see Stories at the top, so you can easily connect with the people that matter to you, and messaging is one tap away," the announcement continued.
Additionally, Instagram introduces the Following tab to make it easier for users to select the type of content they want to see. The tab has three categories: "All," which displays recommendations from followed accounts; "Friends," which shows posts from accounts that follow each other; and "Latest," which displays the latest posts in chronological order.
Users can customize the order in which the feed appears, prioritizing important content. The app also has a multi-column layout, allowing users to read and send messages, as well as check notifications more efficiently than the iPhone version.
The launch of Instagram for iPad adds to the series of Meta apps available on the device, following the earlier arrival of WhatsApp a few months ago.
