TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Fans of KPop Demon Hunters have all the rights to celebrate as the film secured its first Grammy Award, with the hit track “Golden” winning Best Song Written for Visual Media at the pre-telecast ceremony on Sunday in Los Angeles.
The victory marks a historic milestone, making “Golden” the first K-pop song ever to win a Grammy Award.
Performed by the film’s fictional group Huntr/x, “Golden” is sung by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, who can now add Grammy winners to their growing list of accolades.
Written by EJAE alongside Mark Sonnenblick, DO, 24, and Teddy, the song had been nominated in four categories, further cementing its status as a breakout global hit and a defining moment for K-pop on the world’s biggest music stage.
KPop Demon Hunters’ "Golden" Shines at Grammy Premiere Ceremony
The historic win for “Golden” was announced at the Grammy Premiere Ceremony, held ahead of the main awards show and running alongside the red carpet festivities.
The Best Song Written for Visual Media category was introduced to recognize songwriters behind original music created specifically for films, television series, and other visual storytelling platforms.
Several notable names also claimed early honours, with British acts Yungblud, The Cure, and FKA Twigs picking up awards, while the Dalai Lama won Best Audiobook. Making history of his own, eight-year-old Aura V became the youngest Grammy recipient after winning Best Children’s Album.
Meanwhile, momentum continued to build ahead of the main ceremony as Kendrick Lamar secured three early wins, including Best Rap Song for “TV Off”. The strong showing positioned him as a frontrunner heading into the night’s most anticipated category, Album of the Year.
"Golden" Earned Four Nominations at the 2026 Grammys
“Golden” emerged as one of the most talked-about contenders at the 2026 Grammy Awards, earning a total of four nominations across major categories.
The hit from KPop Demon Hunters was recognized for Best Song Written for Visual Media, Song of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and Best Remixed Recording by David Guetta.
In the visual media category, “Golden” stood tall against a strong field that included works by Nine Inch Nails, Elton John and Brandi Carlile, Jayme Lawson, and Leonard Denisenko, among others.
The film’s soundtrack album, a Billboard 200 chart-topper, was also nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.
While “Golden” fell short in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Remixed Recording categories during the pre-telecast, losing the former to Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s “Defying Gravity”, the track remains in contention for Song of the Year, set to be announced during the main nighttime ceremony.
