TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Garda Indonesia Association, an online motorcycle taxi driver association, will go on protest alongside students and civil society at the House of Representatives (DPR) Building in Central Jakarta tomorrow on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. This demonstration will raise seven demands, including the Draft Online Transportation Law and an investigation into the deaths of online motorcycle taxi drivers during demonstrations in Jakarta and Makassar.

Garda Indonesia Chairperson, Raden Igun Wicaksono, stated that nearly 5,000 people will demonstrate at the House of Representatives building. "The wave of resistance will grow into a powerful force that the government should not underestimate," Igun said in a written statement on Monday, September 15, 2025.

Igun warned the government not to ignore the demonstrations taking place in Indonesia. He believes the recent escalation of the wave of demonstrations will spread further if the government fails to implement pro-people policies.

He cited the protest in Nepal as an example. According to him, the demonstrations in that country occurred because the people had reached the peak of their patience with the corrupt, evil, and unpopular behavior of officials. "The same thing could happen in Indonesia. There's a fire under the stubble that will one day grow and even explode," said Igun.

List of 7 Demands from Ojol Riders in Tomorrow's Protest

1. The Online Transportation Bill must be immediately included in the National Legislation Program

2. The 10 percent cut for ride-hailing app providers is non-negotiable

3. Regulation of goods and food delivery rates

4. An investigative audit of the 5 percent cut taken by ride-hailing app providers

5. Eliminate all app-hailing app programs that are detrimental to ride-hailing, such as Aceng, Slot, Multi-Order, paid members, and others

6. Replace the Minister of Transportation with a pro-people position

7. The National Police Chief must thoroughly investigate the tragedy of August 28, 2025, which resulted in the deaths of two ride-hailing drivers, Affan Kurniawan in Jakarta and Rusdamdiyansah in Makassar.

On May 21, Lasarus, Chair of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives, announced that he would soon discuss drafting regulations in the form of an Online Transportation Law. This was announced after a public hearing (RDPU) with representatives of the online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver association.
