TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Saudi Arabian government, through the Saudi Arabian Hajj Officials (PPIH), has issued several important recommendations for all Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to obey. These recommendations are issued ahead of the peak of the hajj ritual in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina (Armuzna).
Muchlis M. Hanafi, the head of Saudi Arabian Hajj officials, said this guidance resulted from a coordination meeting between the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the PPIH, along with all Indonesian group officials. "Important recommendations were conveyed during the meeting that must serve as guidelines for all Indonesian Hajj pilgrims, especially as they prepare to travel to Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina," Muchlis said during a press conference in Mecca on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
Furthermore, he said that the Saudi Arabian PPIH will ensure that all these recommendations are thoroughly followed by the officials and the pilgrims. "We ask for the full support of all the pilgrims and the hajj officials," he added.
Here are the nine important recommendations that all pilgrims must understand and comply with:
1. Prohibition of Leaving Tents During Extreme Weather
From 10:00 to 16:00 Saudi Arabian time, pilgrims are prohibited from leaving their tents because the temperature is estimated to reach 50 degrees Celsius. This measure is taken to ensure the health and safety of the pilgrims while in Arafah and Mina.
2. Discipline in the Armuzna Movement
Pilgrims are required to follow the official movement schedule determined by each group. It is strictly prohibited to move individually or leave the designated group.
3. Slaughtering Only Through Official Programs
Slaughtering of sacrificial animals is only permitted through the official Adahi program managed by the Saudi Arabian government. Slaughtering outside the official channels, including through brokers or unauthorized locations, is strictly prohibited.
4. Adherence to the Schedule of Stoning the Jamarat
The stoning of the Jamarat must adhere to the time determined by the group or service center. Freestyle or individual stoning outside the official schedule is strongly prohibited.
5. Bring and Guard the Nusuk Card
All pilgrims must bring their Nusuk Card and make sure they don't lose it. This card is essential, including for accessing the Masjid al-Haram.
6. Adhere to Health Protocols
Pilgrims are urged to maintain their health by wearing masks, using umbrellas, regularly washing their hands, using hand sanitizer, includes consuming nutritious food and drinking an adequate amount of water.
7. Utilize Official Complaint Channels
If there are complaints regarding facilities such as electricity, water, or air conditioning, pilgrims can contact the official complaint channel at the number 1966. Officials are also asked to promote this service.
8. Ensure the Presence and Readiness of Group Officials
Group officials must always be with the pilgrims inside the tents, and their contact numbers must be available in an emergency.
9. Uphold the Positive Image of Indonesian Pilgrims
As the largest group of pilgrims, representing 25 percent of the total global pilgrims, Indonesian pilgrims are expected to set an example in discipline, compliance with regulations, and upholding the nation's good name.
