TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Featuring her own track So High School playing in the background, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement on August 26, 2025. In a joint Instagram post, the couple shared five photos from the proposal, set in a stunning, floral-filled garden that looked straight out of a fairytale.
With the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” the post also featured a close-up look to the ring, which, as reported by People.com, is a custom-designed one created in collaboration with Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry.
The announcement quickly went viral, amassing over 20 million likes and 1.5 million reposts in less than 12 hours. While the couple chose to turn off the comment section, that didn’t stop fellow celebrities and close friends from showing their love and support in their own ways.
Sabrina Carpenter, who previously opened for Swift on select dates of the Eras Tour, re-shared the post to her Instagram Story, adding ten white heart emojis above it.
Cara Delevingne, a longtime friend of Swift, also reposted the announcement with fourteen flame heart emojis, tagging both @taylorswift and @killatrav with a playful “+” in between.
Fellow artist Charlie Puth joined the celebration, writing in his Instagram Story, “Congratulations Taylor & Travis! This is the best part of life. So happy for you both!!”
Taking a more playful approach, actors John Stamos and Josh Gad shared a joint Instagram reel of themselves riding Disney World’s Pirates of the Caribbean ride while lip-syncing to Swift’s “Love Story.” The caption read, “when you hear the happiest news at the happiest place on earth:”
From Kelce’s side, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes reposted the couple’s announcement to his Instagram Story, adding three red heart emojis.
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay also joined in, posting a throwback photo of himself and Kelce at the 2023 Super Bowl, with the caption, “From one ring to the next, congrats @killatrav & @taylorswift ! From your favorite Home Ec Teacher Gx,” playfully referencing the couple’s Instagram caption.
President Donald Trump also weighed in on the lovely news. During a cabinet meeting, when asked by reporters about the engagement, he responded, “I wish them a lot of luck. I think he;s a great player, a great guy. And I think she’s a terrific person.”
Swift and Kelce have been publicly dating since 2023, with Swift first spotted attending a Kansas City Chiefs game in September alongside her mom. The couple was later seen holding hands in New York City the following month, confirming their relationship.
Since then, they’ve made several public appearances together and dropped subtle nods to each other in interviews. Even in Swift’s lyrics, such as in So High School, a line seemingly put in reference to Kelce, “You know how to ball, I know Aristotle.”
