TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Three demonstrators who were previously reported missing after a violent protest last week have been located. They were found to have been held in custody at the East Jakarta Police and North Jakarta Police headquarters.

Dimas Bagus Arya, Coordinator of the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS), said one of the missing protesters was discovered with severe bruises while detained at the East Jakarta Police.

“The injuries are suspected to be the result of torture,” Dimas said on Sunday, September 7, 2025.

Another protester was also confirmed to have been held at the East Jakarta Police after allegedly being forcibly taken from his home by unidentified individuals. The third was found at the North Jakarta Police. Two of the three had been completely out of contact until their whereabouts were confirmed by KontraS.

Dimas described the cases as incidents of “short-term enforced disappearances.” However, he noted that KontraS has not yet received any explanation as to why the three demonstrators were detained.

According to KontraS’ records, at least ten protesters went missing following the mass demonstrations at the end of August. With five people now accounted for, five others remain untraceable. The organization has been gathering reports of missing persons through its complaint posts.

The five demonstrators who are still missing as of September 7, 2025, are:

  1. Fujian Esa Gumilar, last seen in Cikole, Bandung.

  2. Eko Purnomo, last seen in Central Jakarta.

  3. Muhammad Farhan Hamid, last seen in Central Jakarta.

  4. Reno Syahputrodewo, last seen in Central Jakarta.

  5. Bima Permana Putra, last seen in West Jakarta.

Dimas urged the public to continue reporting to KontraS if they suspect their relatives are missing in connection with the protests. Information can be submitted through the KontraS complaint hotline at 0896-3522-5998.
