Jakarta's public bus transportation service Transjakarta is planning to adjust its bus routes in anticipation of a labor protest near the House of Representatives (DPR) building on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Ayu Wardhani, the Head of Public Relations Department of PT Transjakarta, stated that the adjustment of services will be made based on the situation.

She mentioned that they have not yet identified which bus stops are potentially going to be temporarily closed due to the demonstration on August 28. "We are still assessing and adjusting to the situation on the ground," said Ayu when contacted on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

She added that PT Transjakarta will periodically update information regarding these service adjustments. The public can find information on route services through the Transjakarta application and social media.

"We advise customers to adjust their travel accordingly," she said.

Thousands of laborers and union workers are expected to hold demonstrations in front of the DPR building in Jakarta today, Thursday, August 28, 2025. Additionally, the demonstrations will also take place in front of the Jakarta City Hall and the Horse Statue area.

The President of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions, Said Iqbal, stated that their group has outlined several demands that will be conveyed during the demonstration on August 28. Said explained the first demand is urging the government to increase the 2026 minimum wage by 8.5-10 percent. The labor group also opposes layoffs and demands the abolition of the outsourcing system.

Furthermore, they demand tax reform, as the current tax system is burdensome for workers and the public,

The labor demonstrations also demand the urgent passage of a new labor law bill, as per Constitutional Court Decision Number 168 of 2024, which ruled in favor of the workers' lawsuit. In addition, the laborers also demand the passage of the Asset Seizure Bill and the revision of the Election Law.
