Trump Ally, Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani in Critical Condition

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Former New York City (NYC) mayor Rudy Giuliani has been hospitalized in critical but stable condition, his spokesperson confirmed on Sunday, with limited details disclosed about the cause of his illness.

As reported by CNN, spokesperson Ted Goodman said Giuliani is continuing to fight his condition. “Mayor Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and he’s fighting with that same level of strength as we speak,” Goodman said in a statement posted on social media X.

Goodman did not provide further information about the reason for the hospitalization. However, Giuliani, 81, had recently indicated he was unwell, telling viewers on his online program that his voice was “a little under the weather” and appearing to cough during the broadcast.

Giuliani, widely known as “America’s Mayor” for his leadership during the September 11, 2001 attacks, has remained a prominent political figure and a close ally of US President Donald Trump. Trump responded to the news by praising Giuliani as a “True Warrior” and “the Best Mayor in the History of New York City.”

According to BBC, Giuliani has faced a series of health and legal challenges in recent years. He was previously hospitalized following a car accident in New Hampshire and also received treatment for COVID-19 in 2020.

Beyond health concerns, Giuliani has been involved in legal battles related to his role in contesting the 2020 US presidential election. He has pleaded not guilty to charges linked to election interference in Arizona, while a defamation case brought by two election workers resulted in a $148 million judgment against him.

Support for Giuliani has also come from political figures across the spectrum. Former New York mayor Eric Adams wished him a full recovery, describing his public service—particularly during the 9/11 crisis—as a moment that “rises above politics.”

Giuliani’s recent hospitalization follows a history of health setbacks, including injuries sustained in a car crash last year. Despite these challenges, his spokesperson emphasized his resilience, asking the public to keep him in their prayers as he continues to receive medical care.
