TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vietnam is taking serious steps to improve the quality of education and technology. The education policy is outlined in Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on the development of education and training.

Vietnam is among the 21 United Nations member states targeting quality education by 2030. As reported by VietnamNews.Vn, the country aims to have eight universities ranked among the top 200 in Asia, with at least one ranked within the top 100 in the world by 2030. Vietnam also aims to ensure that all young people receive education up to the university level.

To improve the education sector, Vietnam will increase incentives for teaching staff. The details include a 70 percent incentive increase for early childhood education and general education teachers, and 100 percent for teachers in disadvantaged areas.

The government will also increase the education budget by at least 20 percent of the state budget, with 5 percent for investment. Vietnam aims to create conditions for schools to be self-reliant and mobilize social resources.

By 2030, Vietnam aims to ensure fair access and high-quality pre-school and general education that meets advanced Asian standards. The school network will be expanded to meet the learning needs of all students nationwide, with at least 80 percent of schools meeting national standards.

Children aged 3 to 5 will start attending early childhood education schools. Every citizen is required to complete lower secondary education, with at least 85 percent graduating from senior high school.

There will be early achievements in improving technology capabilities, AI literacy, and English language skills in general education. The education index contributing to the Human Development Index (HDI) is expected to exceed 0.8, with education inequality decreasing to below 10 percent.

Half of the post-secondary school-age population will pursue higher education. At least 24 percent of the workforce will have a bachelor or university degree. Those studying basic sciences, engineering, and technology will account for at least 35 percent of total students, including 6,000 PhD candidates and 20,000 students in elite programs.

By 2035, Vietnam's education system is expected to be further modernized with rapid progress in quality and access. The target is to have at least two Vietnamese universities ranked among the top 100 in the world.

By the year 2045, Vietnam aims for a modern, fair, and high-quality national education system that ranks among the top 20 in the world. Vietnam targets a high-quality workforce to become an advanced and high-income country.
