TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Danantara Indonesia Investment Management Agency responds to the delay in publishing its inaugural financial report, scheduled for May 2026. In an official statement, the Danantara Communication Team states that Danantara is a sui generis entity conceived under Law Number 1 of 2025.
A sui generis entity is a special body or institution established by law that operates independently of the central or regional government and has the authority to perform certain government functions.
According to the Communication Team, Danantara Indonesia's reporting requirements refer to Law Number 1 of 2025, as amended by Law Number 16 of 2025, and its implementing regulations. "As a sui generis entity, Danantara Indonesia still reports its annual financial statements to the government auditor, the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK)," wrote the Communication Team in an official statement on the Danantara website, quoted on Friday, May 15, 2026.
The delay in the release of Danantara's financial report has been questioned by the Director of the Next Indonesia Center, Herry Gunawan. He stated that, in accordance with regulations, the report should have been submitted within two months of the end of the fiscal year, and no later than February 2026.
According to Herry, Danantara has disregarded regulations and set a bad example for its subsidiaries. "This shows a lack of commitment from Danantara to implement good governance, making the management of its subsidiaries risky," said Herry in a written statement quoted on Friday, May 15, 2026.
Herry stated that at least three regulations were violated regarding the non-publication of Danantara's annual report. First, Government Regulation Number 8 of 2006 concerning Financial Reporting and Performance of Government Institutions. Second, Article 20 of Presidential Regulation Number 29 of 2014 concerning the Accountability System for the Performance of Government Institutions. Third, the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform Regulation Number 53 of 2014 concerning Performance Agreement Guidelines, Performance Reporting, and Review Procedures for the Performance Report of Government Institutions.
Herry stated that President Prabowo Subianto should pay attention to the culture of disregarding regulations established by the government itself. "Behavior like this by Danantara will erode public trust in the government," he said.
