BMKG Warns of Heavy Rain Risk in West Java Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts that most of the Indonesian territory will experience light rain on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. In Sumatra, Padang, Bengkulu, and Jambi are expected to have thick clouds, while Palembang may experience hazy weather.

"Light rain is expected in Banda Aceh, Medan, Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Pangkal Pinang, and Bandar Lampung," said BMKG forecaster, Ina Indah, as quoted by Antara.

For Java Island, Yogyakarta is forecasted to have cloudy weather, while Jakarta will experience thick clouds. Light rain is expected in Serang, Bandung, Semarang, and Surabaya.

Moving on to Kalimantan, Samarinda is expected to have thick clouds, while Pontianak, Tanjung Selor, Palangkaraya, and Banjarmasin will experience light rain.

For Bali and Nusa Tenggara region, Mataram may have hazy weather, while Kupang is expected to be partly cloudy, and Denpasar may experience light rain.

As for Sulawesi, Gorontalo and Manado are forecasted to have cloudy weather, while Makassar and Kendari will experience thick clouds. "Thunderstorms are expected to hit Palu and Mamuju," said Ina.

In the Maluku and North Maluku regions, Ternate is expected to have thick clouds, while Ambon and Sorong may experience light rain.

Shifting to Papua region, Manokwari is expected to have cloudy weather, while light rain is forecasted in Sorong, Nabire, Jayapura, Jayawijaya, and Merauke.

The BMKG also reminds the public to stay alert for the potential of heavy to very heavy rain in the West Java region.
