Indonesia Allocates Rp12.8 Trillion for Economic Stimulus

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that the government has allocated a budget of Rp12.83 trillion for the first quarter 2026 economic stimulus package. The stimulus package includes transportation ticket discounts, toll road tariff reductions, and social assistance (bansos).

He mentioned that the stimulus to be disbursed in the February-March 2026 period does not include electricity tariff discounts. Airlangga also confirmed that there will be no electricity tariff discounts this year.

"We have prepared a stimulus package that reflects Indonesia's economic growth. We have allocated Rp12.83 trillion for transportation discounts during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, including airplane ticket discounts," he said at the Indonesia Economic Summit (IEC) 2026 in Jakarta on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as quoted from Antara.

Of the total budget, Airlangga said that Rp200 billion is allocated for transportation discounts, while around Rp12 trillion is for social assistance.

The transportation discounts mentioned include up to 16 percent off airplane tickets. Incentives will include Value Added Tax borne by the government (PPN DTP) specifically for economy class domestic flight tickets. "Then Angkasa Pura, airport tax will be given a 50 percent discount, and there will also be a discount on avtur (aviation turbine fuel)."

Furthermore, Airlangga stated that for sea and railway transportation, there will be a 30 percent reduction in ticket tariffs. The government also prepares a 20 percent discount on toll road tariffs. As for social assistance, it will consist of 10 kilograms of rice and Minyakita vegetable oil, each given for two months.

However, Airlangga did not provide detailed information on when these discounts will be implemented. The stimulus package will certainly be provided during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr holidays in 2026. "Our target is to boost the economy higher because the first quarter is crucial. Last year's first quarter growth was relatively lower," he said.
