TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto and Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration could attract investments of up to Rp81.5 trillion and generate approximately 15,000 jobs in Indonesia.
The MoU signing was witnessed by President Prabowo Subianto and Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang on Sunday, May 25, 2025. The two understandings are the Memorandum on Strengthening Economic Cooperation in Industrial and Supply Chain and Memorandum on Two Countries Twin Parks Cooperation Project.
Airlangga said that these MoUs not only deepen economic cooperation. "It also opens up wide opportunities for high-quality investments, the transformation of value-added industries, and the development of globally competitive, integrated industrial areas," he said in an official statement quoted on Monday, May 26, 2025.
The Memorandum on Strengthening Economic Cooperation in Industrial and Supply Chain aims to strengthen bilateral industrial and supply chain sectors. It focuses on strategic sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, high technology, as well as new and renewable energy.
Both countries agreed to encourage the participation of various types of businesses, including MSMEs, to engage in economic cooperation in the industrial and supply chain sectors. In addition, they agreed to facilitate the development of industrial projects in key sectors, both within the Two Countries Twin Parks, such as Batang-Yuanhong, and in agreed-upon locations as expansions of initial pilot projects.
The Memorandum on Two Countries Twin Parks Cooperation Project is expected to become a model for two-way economic and trade cooperation. Cooperation within this framework will be implemented in several strategic industrial areas in Indonesia.
These include the Integrated Industrial Zone of Batang, Wijayakusuma Industrial Zone in Semarang, and Bintan Industrial Zone. "This initiative has an investment potential of approximately Rp61.5 trillion and is expected to absorb around 10,500 workers from various industrial sectors," said Airlangga.
