TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Young Indonesian athletes Anugrah Styawan Pujo Santoso and Hoshi Fatihah Azharah finished in the top 10 at the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships at Hayward Field, Oregon, United States.
"The young Indonesian athletes faced fierce competition from the best junior athletes from various countries," stated the Executive Board of the All Indonesia Athletics Association (PB PASI) on its social media page, as cited in Jakarta on Sunday.
Anugrah, competing in the men's 110m hurdles (Round 1, Heat 2), finished in eighth place with a time of 18.86 seconds.
The young runner strove to give his best from the start of the race and maintained his rhythm as he approached the finish line.
However, his effort ended with an incident at the final hurdle.
Anugrah stumbled while clearing the final hurdle and fell just before reaching the finish line. The incident cost him time, and he finished the race in eighth place.
Meanwhile, Hoshi Fatihah Azharah, competing in the women's 200-meter event (Round 1, Heat 3), finished sixth with a time of 24.60 seconds.
Participating in the U20 World Championships provided both athletes with valuable experience to gauge their abilities against international competition.
The event also offered young Indonesian athletes the opportunity to gain experience competing against junior athletes from various countries—experience that serves as a foundation for achieving greater success in future competitions.
PASI expressed its gratitude for the hard work and dedication shown by both the athletes and their accompanying coaches. They proudly represented Indonesia at the U20 World Championships.
Their participation is part of the ongoing development process aimed at helping young athletes achieve greater success on the international stage.
