TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Iranian armed forces have launched an attack on sites suspected of housing Israeli and United States military commanders, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Friday.
"Around 10 protection and location sites in the occupied territories, as well as three assembly and US protection sites in the area, have been identified and targeted with the purpose of pursuing US and Zionist commanders," the IRGC said in a statement quoted by the Fars news agency as reported by Antara.
Iranian forces deployed drones and missiles against seven targets in Tel Aviv, two in Rishon LeZion, and one in Shoham. Additionally, the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia and US military installations in Baghdad and Erbil, Iraq, were reportedly targeted.
The escalation follows the February 28 strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian targets, including Tehran, which resulted in damage, civilian casualties, and the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran has since responded by targeting Israeli territory and US military facilities throughout the Middle East.
While the United States and Israel initially justified their "preventive" strikes as a necessary measure against Iran’s nuclear program, they later shifted their stance, indicating a desire for regime change in Tehran.
