Jakarta to Adjust Transjabodetabek Fares Above Rp3,500

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government is finalizing a new fare structure for Transjabodetabek services, moving away from the flat Rp3,500 rate in favor of adjustments based on travel distance and service characteristics.

"As I have said before, it is impossible for a route like Blok M to Soekarno-Hatta Airport to cost only Rp3,500, especially when Damri and other alternatives already average over Rp100,000," Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated at the Urban Knowledge Hub in South Jakarta on Monday, June 8, as reported by Antara.

He emphasized that a fare adjustment for Transjabodetabek is inevitable and that the final decision will be announced in the near future.

Consequently, Transjabodetabek commuters are expected to anticipate the planned hike, which aims to balance the distance covered with the quality of service provided.

Nevertheless, the city administration has offered assurances that the new rates will remain affordable for the general public and continue to encourage the use of mass transit.

As previously reported, Transjakarta is set to launch a new Transjabodetabek corridor, specifically the SH2 route connecting Blok M to Soekarno-Hatta Airport, starting March 12, 2026.

The Jakarta Provincial Government intends to deliberate on the specific fares for this route, with estimates ranging between Rp10,000 and Rp15,000. However, Pramono clarified that a decision will only be made after the route has been operational for a three-month trial period.
