TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Netflix’s most-watched English-language series of all time, “Wednesday,” starring Jenna Ortega, has officially been renewed for a third season. Since its debut in November 2022, the gothic teen drama has captivated audiences by following Wednesday Addams through her struggles as both the sharp-witted daughter of the Addams Family and a peculiar student at Nevermore Academy.
Season 2 wrapped up with a haunting finale that left fans eager for more. From stalkers and family secrets to complicated romances, Wednesday’s journey has been anything but ordinary.
With Season 3 on the horizon, speculation is high: will the story take a lighter turn, and what twists await the Wednesday cast this time around?
Wednesday Season 3 Release Date
Netflix announced on August 20 that “Wednesday” will return for Season 3, still with Jenna Ortega leading as the titular antihero.
Series co-creator and co-showrunner Miles Millar exclusively told Netflix’s Tudum, “[Co-creator and co-showrunner] Miles [Millar] and I have been doing this long enough to know that shows like this don’t come along every day. It’s such an alchemy of writing, directing, acting, crew, streamer, studio, and fans. We remain grateful and excited to continue this journey and tell these stories with all of our partners.”
Gough added, “Our goal for Season 3 is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can,” while still keeping the release date of Season 3 under wraps.
Wednesday Season 3 Casts
The full lineup of the Wednesday cast for Season 3 remains hidden, as the next franchise might still be further in the future. But, based on the storyline thus far, Jenna Ortega and the rest of the Addams Family members will likely make a return, including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Fred Armisen, Isaac Ordonez, and George Burcea.
Outside of the family trees, familiar faces like Emma Myers, Joanna Lumley, Hunter Doohan, and Victor Dorobantu are also expected to follow the Wednesday cast lineup for Season 3.
Wednesday Season 3 Production Status
To date, the production of Wednesday Season 3 hasn’t begun. While it could start any day from now, the writer and showrunner duo—Alfred Gough and Miles Miller—haven’t disclosed any information regarding the filming timeline.
For this, Screen Rant calculated the plausible timeline, based on Wednesday’s creators previous comments that say it takes a minimum of eighteen months to get the Netflix show from production to air due to the level of VFX. All things considered, Wednesday Season 3 will likely grace the screen in late 2027.
What the Creators Say about Wednesday Season 3
In the season finale, “Wednesday” left viewers hanging with Morticia Addams giving the journal of Ophelia to Wednesday. Then, the series unveiled another mystery of the lost daughter in Grandmama’s basement.
Creators and showrunners briefly comment, “We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday.” Millar adds, “We will be seeing more Addams family members and learning more family secrets in Season 3!”
With Wednesday Season 3 in development, anticipation continues to build around its storyline, production, and returning cast. Until the series makes its comeback, fans can only wait as the mysteries of Nevermore Academy and the Addams family remain under wraps.
