TEMPO.CO, Jakarta In 2025, the United States did export more crude oil and petroleum products than it imported. Data on annual U.S. oil exports in 2025 shows that petroleum and petroleum product exports totaled about 10.7 million barrels per day (b/d). This figure exceeded imports, which stood at around 7.9 million b/d, representing a difference of roughly 2.8 million b/d

As for crude oil, data shows that exports decreased by 3% from 2024, totaling about 4 million b/d. However, the figure still exceeded imports, which the U.S. Energy Information Administration noted declined to 2.2 million b/d in 2025 from 2.5 million b/d in 2024. Crude oil, meanwhile, is a fossil fuel that can be refined into petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel.

Among the top receiving destinations, the Netherlands led the list, with 418.75 million barrels imported from the United States. This accounted for 10.7% of the total, about 8.3% higher than Spain, which ranked tenth. As Visual Capitalist highlights, much of the oil exported to the Netherlands passes through the Port of Rotterdam, with roughly 1.1 million barrels moving through the hub each day.

Canada followed closely, importing 398.14 million barrels in 2025. While the country is widely recognized for its vast oil reserves, it lacks sufficient refining capacity and east-west pipeline infrastructure, leading it to rely heavily on U.S. crude imports.

China, meanwhile, fell three places to sixth on the list. With 237.78 million barrels imported in 2025, the country increasingly turned to discounted sanctioned crude from Iran, Venezuela, and Russia. At the same time, India’s imports rose by 35%, increasing by around 57 million barrels.

Here are the complete top 10 U.S. oil exports receivers, according to USAFacts.
