TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Wang Lutong stated that his country respects Indonesia's decision to optimize its resource management, including by establishing a one-stop export policy for strategic resources.
"We understand Indonesia's efforts to optimize strategic resource management and enhance resource utilization for national development," Wang said in a written statement, as quoted by ANTARA.
When asked to comment on the establishment of PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI), he expressed China's readiness to continue strengthening policy coordination, creating a stable policy ecosystem for businesses between the two countries, and expanding concrete cooperation to achieve shared progress.
Moreover, the industries and supply chains between Indonesia and China are already highly integrated, with the two countries' economies being complementary and having a solid foundation for cooperation.
However, Ambassador Wang hopes that in implementing this kind of policy, Indonesia will pay attention to the interests of all stakeholders, consistency and certainty of policy, and strengthen research and studies as a basis for policy determination.
"We also hope that supportive measures to safeguard the market and facilitate business development can be implemented at the right time," he added.
By maintaining market trust in this way, an adequate business ecosystem for business operations and trade cooperation can be maintained, and cooperation between Indonesia and China can be strengthened, Wang said.
The Indonesian government established the DSI to manage and supervise export transactions of strategic natural resource commodities. The company was formed in response to the longstanding high prevalence of under-invoicing and transfer pricing practices in several Indonesian export commodities.
In the initial phase, which will last until the end of 2026, the DSI will oversee export reporting for coal, palm oil, and ferroalloys. According to government needs and the company's readiness, DSI's role will be expanded in the future.
Starting January 1, 2027, DSI is planned to act as a trading company that purchases commodities from exporters and sells them to the international market, with the proceeds of the sales repatriated to Indonesia.
