TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Several PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) cadres visited the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police to report the Cooperative Minister Budi Arie Setiadi. The former Minister of Communication and Information Technology is reported for allegedly slandering the PDIP party.
"Today we will file a report to the Bareskrim regarding the statement or slander made by Budi Arie," said PDI Perjuangan cadre, Wiradarma Harefa, at the Bareskrim building on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
Wiradarma mentioned that Budi Arie had committed slander by implicating that their party was involved in protecting online gambling sites in the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.
Previously, a voice recording resembling Budi Arie's voice mentioning PDI Perjuangan's involvement in the online gambling case at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology had circulated on social media.
These PDI Perjuangan cadres plan to report Budi Arie under Article 310 of the Criminal Code related to Defamation, Article 311 on Slander, and Article 27a of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law. "We have evidence of video recordings and full voice recordings," said Wiradarma.
Wira arrived with eight other PDI Perjuangan cadres at Bareskrim. They came wearing red uniforms with the PDI Perjuangan logo. He claimed to have consulted with the PDI Perjuangan DPP regarding this report.
Meanwhile, in several reports, Budi Arie asked the public not to immediately believe the voice recording. He requested the public not to blindly accept information circulating on social media.
