TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled for another trip to France, according to Foreign Minister Sugiono during a press conference at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
Sugiono initially outlined Prabowo's recent trip to France. According to Sugiono, President Prabowo had an in-person meeting with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron to discuss cooperation in various sectors, including defense, education, infrastructure, and the utilization of critical minerals.
"And the plan for President Prabowo's state visit to France in the near future," Sugiono said, without giving away further detail on when and for what purpose for Prabowo's return to France.
Sugiono only mentioned that Prabowo has a close personal relationship with Macron, calling it a "substantial asset to bolster the bilateral relations between the two countries."
During his 18 months in office, President Prabowo has already visited France in three separate instances, with the most recent on April 14 for a tête-à-tête meeting with Macron at the Élysée Palace.
During their meeting, Presidents Prabowo and Macron discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in several sectors. "Including the procurement of defense equipment and the strengthening of the defense industry, energy transition and the development of new renewable energy, infrastructure and transportation, as well as education and the creative economy," Prabowo wrote on his official Instagram account as stated in the subtitles on Prabowo's account @presidenrepublikindonesia.
Before that, Prabowo also visited France in mid-July 2025, to attend the Bastille Day 2025 Military Parade at Place de la Concorde, Paris, as an honored guest.
Then earlier this year, Prabowo made a brief visit of less than five hours to France, after his European tour to the UK and Switzerland.
Prabowo and Macron reportedly converse for about 2 hours and 30 minutes, starting with a dinner. The two leaders discussed various global issues and France's leadership as the host of the G7 meeting.
