TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Persistent heavy rainfall over the last two days in Bali has caused flooding in several densely populated areas of Denpasar. Since the early hours of Wednesday, September 10, 2025, locations in West Denpasar, including the Pura Demak, Monang-Maning, Tegal Kerta, and Pasar Kumbasari districts, have been submerged.
Major General Piek Budyakto, Commander of IX/Udayana Regional Military Command (Kodam), ordered the deployment of troops from Kodim 1611/Badung. These forces, along with Landing Craft Rubber Boats (LCR), were dispatched to assist residents affected by the floods.
Led by their commander, Colonel I Putu Tangkas Wiratawan, the troops focused on evacuating trapped residents and salvaging their belongings.
"We are currently concentrating our personnel in the Pasar Kumbasari and Gajah Mada Street areas of Denpasar, given the considerable impact there. We hope the floodwaters recede quickly so that community life can return to normal," stated I Putu Tangkas Wiratawan.
Deadly Flooding in Jembrana
A significant flood also hit the Jembrana Regency, resulting in two fatalities. One victim, Nita Kumila, 23, from Pengambengan Village, Negara District, was found deceased after being reported missing.
Kamaruzzaman, the head of Pengambengan Village, confirmed, "The body was discovered by residents in a swamp not far from where she disappeared." The body of the two-month pregnant woman was then transported to the Pengambengan Community Health Center.
The second victim, I Komang Oka Sudiastawam, 38, died after slipping and drowning in a flooded area. According to his nephew, Nanda, the victim was checking the floodwaters, which were waist-deep, around his home. "He might have slipped and hit his head, which caused him to drown," Nanda speculated.
