TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Public Works announced that access on the East Java-Bali national road was temporarily closed following severe floods in Bali on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. The government has deployed heavy equipment to clear debris from the road and other affected areas.
"We prioritize the safety and comfort of the affected people. The Ministry of Public Works will provide full support in handling the impact of the floods in Bali," Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo said in a written statement on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
According to data from the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) as of Wednesday, the floods have impacted six regencies and cities: Denpasar City, Jembrana, Gianyar, Klungkung, Badung, and Tabanan.
The disaster has resulted in nine deaths and two missing persons, with five of the deaths occurring in Denpasar. A total of 202 families, or 620 individuals, have been affected by the floods, which were caused by heavy rain since Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
The latest observation from the Bali Penida River Basin Agency showed that the water level at Waduk Muara has decreased from a previous high of 190 centimeters to 130 centimeters, a sign that the flood situation is starting to come under control.
Dody added that a 24-hour rapid response team with heavy equipment is on standby at the Bali disaster site to clear remaining debris. The team is also continuing to assess infrastructure and monitor field conditions to ensure the handling process runs smoothly.
