TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - German champions Bayern Munich defeated Aston Villa 2-1 in a pre-season friendly at Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong on Friday, with goals from Kim Min-jae and Luis Diaz securing the win.
As reported by Antara, Aston Villa pulled one back through Joao Gomes in the second half, but Bayern held on to claim victory, according to the clubs' official records.
Bayern took control early and created their first chance through Arijon Ibrahimovic, whose effort went wide of the Villa goal. Aleksandar Pavlovic then tested goalkeeper Marco Bizot, but the shot was comfortably saved.
Kim Min-jae Puts Bayern Ahead
Bayern finally broke the deadlock in the 37th minute. Tom Bischof delivered a cross into the box, which Kim Min-jae met with a header to give Bayern a 1-0 lead.
Villa started the second half on the front foot, with Evann Guessand creating an opportunity that he was unable to convert.
Bayern responded with several chances of their own. Josip Stanisic, Ibrahimovic and Bischof all tested Bizot, but the Villa goalkeeper kept his side in the game.
Luis Diaz Doubles Bayern's Lead
Bayern eventually extended their advantage in the 73rd minute. Ibrahimovic set up Luis Diaz, who finished the opportunity to make it 2-0.
Villa refused to give up and reduced the deficit 10 minutes later. Joao Gomes found the net in the 83rd minute to make it 2-1.
The Villans pushed for an equalizer in the closing stages, but Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer made several important saves to preserve the lead and secure the victory.
Bayern are scheduled to face RB Leipzig in another friendly on August 15.
Aston Villa, meanwhile, will turn their attention to the UEFA Super Cup, where they are set to face Paris Saint-Germain on August 13.
