Danantara Invests USD 2.5 Billion in Brazilian Meat Production Giant

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Danantara Indonesia through Danantara Investment Management (DIM) established a long-term strategic partnership with leading global meat producer from Brazil, JBS Group. This is an effort to encourage the development of protein ecosystems in Indonesia.

The long-term strategic partnership focuses on JBS's operations in Australia and New Zealand, reflecting Danantara's strategy of partnering with world-class operators, as well as investing in sectors that offer sustainable global relevance and value creation opportunities.

Danantara Indonesia Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Pandu Patria Sjahrir in an official statement in Jakarta on Friday (7/8/2026), said this strategic partnership reflects the commitment to build collaboration with global partners in line with Danantara's investment mandate.

“In addition to gaining access to established business ecosystems in developed international markets, this partnership is expected to leverage the experience and distribution lines of leading global protein companies that can contribute to the long-term development of Indonesia's protein sector,” Pandu said.

The collaboration includes a $2.5 billion investment for 25 percent ownership in a new joint venture (JV) that manages JBS's operations in Australia and New Zealand.

In addition, the JV could raise additional investment financing of up to $2.5 billion in increments, bringing the total available capital to $5 billion.

“This financing will be used to fund greenfield acquisitions and investments in Indonesia, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand,” Pandu said.

Pandu explained that the investment will give DIM access to the business ecosystem in established markets, as well as to experienced management with proven operational capabilities.

Throughout its journey, JBS has demonstrated a solid track record of value creation through consistent growth, expanding market share, and adaptability amid fluctuating industry cycles.
