TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa officially took office as the Minister of Finance, replacing Sri Mulyani Indrawati after being inaugurated by President Prabowo at the State Palace on Monday, September 8, 2025. Previously, Purbaya served as the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS).
When giving a press statement at the Ministry of Finance, Purbaya admitted to having experience in fiscal management. He mentioned that he had been part of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's think tank in 2008.
In addition, Purbaya had assisted President Joko Widodo as a staff member at the Presidential Staff Office in 2015. "I have always provided fiscal input to the government. Unpaid, behind the scenes," said Purbaya at the Ministry of Finance office, Jakarta, on Monday, September 8, 2025.

Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa's Wealth
Based on the State Officials Wealth Report (LHKPN) downloaded from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) website, Purbaya's wealth in 2024 amounted to Rp 39.2 billion.
Purbaya owns land and buildings with a total value of Rp 30.5 billion. These assets consist of three houses in South Jakarta worth Rp 13 billion, Rp 1.5 billion, and Rp 16 billion, respectively.
Purbaya is also recorded to have six motor vehicles with a total value of Rp 3.6 billion. These assets include four cars, namely a Mercedes Benz, BMW Jeep, Toyota Alphard, Peugeot Jeep, and two motorcycles, namely Yamaha XMAX BG6 AT and Honda Vario 125.
In addition, the former LPS boss also possesses other movable assets worth Rp 684 million, securities worth Rp 220 million, as well as cash and cash equivalents amounting to Rp 4.2 billion. Meanwhile, based on LHKPN, Purbaya is not in debt.
Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa's Track Record
Purbaya has been serving as the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of LPS since 2020. According to LPS's official website, he obtained a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology. Purbaya also holds a Master of Science and a doctoral degree in Economics from Purdue University, Indiana, United States.
Before entering the government, Purbaya started his career as a Field Engineer at Schlumberger Overseas SA during the 1989-1994 period. Then, from 2000 to 2005, he served as a Senior Economist at Danareksa Research Institute.
He then served as the President Director of PT Danareksa Sekuritas from 2006-2008, and continued to be the Chief Economist of Danareksa Research Institute from 2005-2003. In 2013, he sat on the Board of Directors of PT Danareksa (Persero).
In the government, during the 2010-2014 period, Purbaya served as a Special Staff for Economic Affairs to the Coordinating Minister for the Economy at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs.
Meanwhile, during the 2015-2016 period, he was appointed as a Special Staff for Economic Affairs at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs. Purbaya also served as the Deputy for Maritime Sovereignty and Energy Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment during the 2018-2020 period.
